The theme of the “ART312 Exhibition Project and Application” course coordinated by Derya Yücel at Istanbul Bilgi University, Arts and Culture Management Program is “human” this year, and the exhibition project that emerged within this theme focuses on the relationship of humans with life, memory, history, and society, together with the concepts of loss, melancholy, action, and resistance. Bringing together 10 artists from different generations, with different perspectives and working in different media, the exhibition titled “What's Inside Us, What's in Our Hands” meets its audience at Kasa Gallery.

In today’s world, forms of surveillance, suppression, and manipulation shape both the daily and social life of the individual. “What's Inside Us, What's in Our Hands” mourns these losses while also exploring the possibilities of conflict, resistance, and establishing new collective solidarities.

Inspired by Jean-Paul Sartre’s concept of “bad faith,” the exhibition “What's Inside Us, What's in Our Hands” examines the processes of an individual losing their freedom and the social reflections of this. Repressed actions, monitored bodies, controlled public spaces... All of them point to today’s invisible but lived/felt oppressive systems.

This exhibition mourns these losses while exploring the possibilities of new areas of meaning, alternative organizations, and political activism. Because today’s art calls not only to see and think, but also to feel, share, and act.
