The Name Remained in the Chest (Hidden)

Kasa Galeri will host Saadet Sorgunlu’s solo exhibition “The Name Remained in the Chest (Hidden)” from August 20 to September 7, 2025. Bringing together media such as textile and installation, the exhibition unveils women’s suppressed, forgotten, or erased stories through the metaphor of the dowry chest. Treating women’s garments not merely as objects or ornaments, but as vessels of memory, narrative tools, and symbols of resistance, Sorgunlu makes visible the outcries concealed in every stitch and tear of the dowry. The works trace the traditional roles imposed on women by society, bearing witness to the silence sewn into dowries and to the names and lives abandoned to oblivion. While creating a space of remembrance in the face of femicide, the exhibition also amplifies the voices of survivors. How many more women will have their names remain in the chest?
