What’s With Not Knowing? will take place between September 21 and November 9, 2023, hosted by Kasa Gallery. The exhibiton is the output of Gülden Ataman, Rana Kelleci and Ayşegül Yapar’s experiment of thinking and producing together for a period of six months.
The exhibiton brings together works that explore ways of coping with the unknown at individual and social scales. The works, including video, installaton, drawing and interactive installation, aVempts to heal the anxieties arose by the unknown by utilising elements of the intangible, uncomprehensible, transient and the coincidental. What’s With Not Knowing? carries a suggestion to encourage visitors to ask questions to their own unknowns.
We ofen find ourselves face to face with unknowns. Our past, our dreams for the future, our childhood, daily emotional states, spiritual dead ends on the individual level; and on the broader scale, social, economic and geopolitical news... The burden of the unknowns get heavier with the rapidly marching time; flaring up our future anxieties while alluring with the potentials they withold.
The unknowns, which we are ofen so scared to even throw a glance, cease to be the dreadful, paralysing facts when they are expressed within safe sharing grounds. The exhibition is the outcome of a collective effort flourishing on such a supportive ground centered around listening and asking questions to eachother. Within this process of exploring the extent of the unknown, one question stood out among tens of others: What’s With Not Knowing? The exhibition offers to see unknowns not as problems requiring immediate solutions but as learning opportunities and wishes to encourage visitors to explore their own.
